BLACK BEARS SEEK GAME-DAY EMPLOYEES WITH JOBS FAIR THIS SATURDAY

Longview-Kelso, Washington:  Thursday, May 20, 2010:   It’s time for people who like to have fun to step forward.  The players get plenty of attention, but at Cowlitz Black Bears games it’s the people who throw the party that make the real fun happen.

The Black Bears are hosting a jobs fair this Saturday, May 22 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Black Bears office at 755 Vandercook Way, 2nd Floor (just off Washington Way), in order to hire the team staff that will work at home games this summer.

If you like to make the party happen, working at the new Story Field this summer is just for you.  “Our games are all about a great family atmosphere, with music, games, fabulous food, and wholesome fun,” said Black Bears general manager Grant Wilson.  “Our team staff sets the tone and really makes things happen in the ball park.”

The Black Bears available positions include concessions staff, wait staff, PA announcer, on-field host, ticket sellers, ticket takers, box office manager, authentic merchandise and souvenir sales, section leaders and ushers, mascot, music and sound effects manager, on-field promo team and more.  The team is also looking for a few more interns.

“It’s a terrific evening second job to earn some extra cash and a fun summer job for students, teachers, and other folks with the summer off,” added Wilson.  “Where else can you find a job where having fun is the number one priority?”

While a number of Cowlitz County families have signed up to host Black Bears players, the team continues to seek host families.  Contact the Black Bears office at (360) 703-3195 or go on-line www.cowlitzblackbears.com.

The Black Bears will play 30 home games throughout the summer, starting Friday night, June 4, at the new Story Field.

The Black Bears are members of the West Coast League, a nine-team, professional-like wood-bat summer college league.  The WCL features pro prospects from major conferences across the country.  More than 100 WCL alums are playing affiliated professional baseball this season, and 12 ex-WCL stars are now playing in the Major Leagues.  For more information on the league, visit www.westcoastleague.com.
